It is right here, in Cilento that the famous Mediterranean diet was discovered, by studying the diet of the Cilento people, the American scientist Ancel Keys, who lived in Cilento for a long time, after various investigations around the Mediterranean decided to continue his studies in Pioppi, a small village in the municipality of Pollica, where the scholar lived for 100 years thanks to the food and the Cilento air.
